‘West Ham are my guilty pleasure’, says ex-Chelsea star Jason Cundy, talkSPORT hosts purr over David Moyes’ ‘fearless’ side and say they can win a trophy this season

West Ham are so good, even rival fans love them.

The feelgood factor is very high in east London right now with the Hammers making a solid start to the Premier League season.

But they’ve played like seasoned continental stars as a 2-0 win over Rapid Vienna has put West Ham in control of their Europa League group.

David Moyes has done a fantastic job in his second spell at the club, with West Ham’s dynamic playing style even winning over those loyal to rival sides.

Former Chelsea star Jason Cundy told Thursday night’s Sports Bar: “Do you know what? Don’t tell anyone this, but my guilty pleasure is watching West Ham!

“They are a well-balanced, really easy on the eye team. They’ve got a brilliant manager, some brilliant players who he’s getting the absolute maximum out of. They’re fearless right now.

“Every West Ham fan must be purring and I don’t think we’ve reached anywhere near the potential of this side. They are a really good team.”

But there could well be more to come from this side this season, believes Cundy.

When asked whether they could win a trophy this season, he responded: “Why not? On their day they can go toe-to-toe with anyone.

“They don’t have the strength in depth. Maybe around Easter if they have a couple of suspensions, a bit of fatigue, they might start to feel the strain.

Sports Bar co-host Jamie O’Hara, who’s Tottenham through and through added: “They could do with another striker. They can really cement themselves as a top six football club… they could do a Leicester.”

Cundy said: “Why can’t West Ham do a Leicester and win the FA Cup? Why can’t they win the Europa League?

“There’s no reason why they can’t do something really good this season.”
