West Ham ‘expect’ star to leave next summer

England will look to secure their place in the last 16 of the World Cup on Friday by beating USA.

Gareth Southgate’s side got their campaign underway in style with an emphatic 6-2 win over Iran on Monday, and USA’s draw against Wales means The Three Lions need just one win from their final two matches to secure progression to the next round.

The England boss is expected to name an unchanged side for the game, providing captain Harry Kane is passed fit after suffering a knock during the victory over Iran.

If he does stick with the same side, it will see Declan Rice line up alongside Jude Bellingham in midfield.

The pair were both impressive during England’s win over Iran, and both players have been linked with big money moves next summer.

Now, West Ham United are reportedly resigned to the fact that Rice will likely leave.

As per Football Insider, The Hammers expect the midfielder to leave next summer regardless of how successful their campaign proves to be.

The 23-year-old has established himself as one of the Premier League’s best midfielders in recent seasons, but his impressive run of form has prompted interest from a number of other clubs.

West Ham now expect Rice to depart and join a Champions League side, the report claims, with Chelsea one of the sides rumoured to be interested.

Rice looks set for a big money move away from West Ham

Last summer, The Blues were allegedly quoted £100 million for Rice, before Hammers manager David Moyes later claimed that it would take ‘at least £150 million’ to sign the midfielder.

Manchester United and Liverpool are also said to be interested in the midfielder, who has rejected numerous offers from his current side to extend his contract, one of which would have earned him a staggering £200,000-per-week.

Rice’s deal is set to expire in the summer of 2024, which means that next summer’s transfer window is likely to be The Hammers’ last chance to sell the player for a huge fee.

Since making his debut in 2017, Rice has made more than 215 appearances for The Hammers, and succeeded Mark Noble as the club captain.

The midfielder was impressive as England reached the final of Euro 2020 last year, and he looks set to once again play a crucial role in the World Cup this year for The Three Lions.

He has 35 caps for England at senior level, having made his debut back in 2019.
