The Verge internet sitesine bir röportaj veren WhatsApp’ın başındaki isimlerden Will Cathcart, iPad için özel bir WhatsApp uygulaması için “yapmayı çok isteriz” tarzında kısa ancak öz bir açıklamada bulundu. Kişilerin uzun zamandır iPad uygulaması beklediğini aktaran Cathcart, bu uygulama için bir tarih ise vermedi. Biliyorsunuz WhatsApp’ın telefondan bağımsız kullanımı için özellikle 2021’de çok önemli adımlar atıldı. Bu süreç tam olarak devreye alındığı zaman kişiler WhatsApp uygulamasını telefonlarına ihtiyaç duymadan iPad’leri üzerinden de kullanabilir. İki platforma (iPhone ve iPad) birden uygulamayı geliştirmeye kaynak ayıramayan ekibin yapacak çok işi olduğu kaydedilirken, iPad uygulamasına bir türlü sıra gelmediği söylenmişti.
Adam Mosseri, daha sonraki bir açıklamasında ise iPad uygulamasının güzel olabileceğini ancak şu an için halen özel bir uygulama için planları olmadığını açıklamıştı
