When Satish Kaushik publicly apologized to Boney Kapoor for Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja failure

By Anindita Mukherjee: Satish Kaushik breathed his last in Gurugram on March 9. He was 66. He was one of the few performers in the industry to have worked with stars from every generation. Satish, who wasn’t just an actor but a celebrated director too, got his first big break as a filmmaker with Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja in 1993. The film featured Sridevi and Anil Kapoor but went on to become a disaster. Satish, in 2018, had issued a public apology to producer Boney Kapoor on Twitter.

SATISH KAUSHIK’S PUBLIC APOLOGY TO BONEY KAPOOR

Satish Kaushik breathed his last on March 9. He received his first big break as a director with leading jodi of the 80s-90s, Anil Kapoor and Sridevi. The film was Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja (1993). The top stars couldn’t save the day and the film went on to become a disaster. 25 years after the film’s release in 2018, Satish had issued a public apology to Boney Kapoor on Twitter and revealed that the latter went broke after the project.

His throwback tweet read, “Yes 25 yrs ago it was a disaster at BO bt it was my first child & will remain close to heart. Remembering madam #SrideviLivesForever & my sorry 2 @BoneyKapoor who gave me a break bt was broke after d film.celebrating #25yearsof RKRCKR @AnilKapoor @Javedakhtarjadu @AnupamPKher (sic).” He also shared a poster of the film along with his tweet.

To this, a user commented that Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja was a bad film. Satish had replied, “It is not about good or bad after 25yrs. It is about owning your failures with your head high in the air. You must be a very successful person but try owning your failures and I assure you, you will be more successful.”

SATISH KAUSHIK NO MORE

Satish Kaushik was an Indian actor, comedian, screenwriter, director and producer. He was born on April 13, 1956, in Haryana. On March 7, Satish Kaushik was in Mumbai where he celebrated Holi at Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi’s Holi bash. He enjoyed the party till afternoon. Soon after, he left for Delhi. Since Holi was celebrated in Delhi on March 8, he flew there to celebrate the festival with his family. After the Holi celebrations, Satish felt uneasy and was taken to the Fortis hospital in Gurugram where the doctors tried to save him. He was in a car when he suffered a heart attack. Satish Kaushik is survived by his wife Shashi and daughter Vanshika Kaushik, aged 11.
