Mielle Organics CEO Monique Rodriguez Reveals Influencer Behind Damage Rumors

Monique Rodriguez initially spoke out in September, addressing claims after several Black women on TikTok accused Mielle Organics products of causing hair loss and damage, specifically the brand’s Rosemary Mint Oil. Now, Rodriguez’s team has allegedly found out that a digital creator was behind the false accusations.

In a video shared on Instagram, Monique Rodriguez addressed the discovery and the ongoing controversy surrounding Mielle Organics.

“Yes this creator was earning a commission to promote a competitors product while spreading misinformation about our products for their own personal gain. And unfortunately, some who joined in on those conversations seemed to have ulterior motives as well,” Rodriguez said in the video.

Additionally, Rodriguez explained that she initially tried to handle the issues privately out of respect but felt the need to be transparent with her supporters. She added that the creator responsible for spreading the false accusations and making videos has been removed. Rodriguez called the situation disheartening, saying she believes there’s room for everyone to succeed. She reassured supporters that Mielle Organics products are safe and thanked those standing by her through her drama.

“I just want to reassure you guys that our products are safe. They are based on consistent formulas, sourcing, and processes. And they are used and loved by millions of satisfied customers every day without a problem,” Rodriguez added.

Here’s What Monique Previously Said About The Drama & Backlash Surrounding Mielle Products

Back in September, Monique Rodriguez responded to concerns from social media users who claimed Mielle Organics products were causing damage. She encouraged consumers to carefully review the labels on the brand’s products. Rodriguez also affirmed that Mielle Organics uses healthy ingredients and creates formulas to deliver safe, effective results.

“If you have any doubts, I encourage you to explore our labels. From 2019 to 2024, you will see that there has been no formula change,” Monique said while holding Mielle’s Rosemary mint hair growth oil.

As TSR reported earlier, some social media users began criticizing Mielle after the brand announced its partnership with Proctor and Gamble in January 2023. Many consumers voiced concerns that the deal would alter the product’s formulas. However, in an interview with Essence, Monique expressed excitement about creating new opportunities for those who will come after her.

“For me, I honor those who have come before me and broken glass ceilings so I can come and shatter glass ceilings. I am creating and paving a way for those who are coming behind me to do not what I have done, but probably even better,” Monique told Essence.
