Why Todd Boehly traveled to Paris ahead of Champions League clash

American billionaire Todd Boehly continues to play a major role in shifting the financial landscape in football as, once again, Premier League giants Chelsea are at the forefront of the transfer world, just as they were under former owner Roman Abramovich.

In partnership with Clearlake Capital Group’s Behdad Eghbali as co-owner, the pair continue to make waves in west London after sanctioning over £600m in spending between the summer window and the recent January period, with headline deals brokered for Enzo Fernández, Wesley Fofana, Mykhailo Mudryk, Raheem Sterling, and twelve other signings that detail a project at Stamford Bridge focused on both immediate return and long-term success.

And the Blues are showing no signs of slowing down come next summer after reports yesterday linked Chelsea with a desire to force their way into the discussion surrounding the inevitable departure of England starlet Jude Bellingham from tonight’s round of sixteen Champions League opponent in Borussia Dortmund, who Boehly will no doubt have his eye on at Signal Iduna Park.

But the presence of Boehly in Paris yesterday in a meeting with Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi has made many stand up with interest after French outlet Le Parisien detailed a sit-down meeting between the twowith one of the talking points being none other than the future of Brazilian icon Neymar.

The former Barcelona and Santos star could be on his way out of the city of lights in the summer according to reports in ESPN after an argument with club sporting director Luis Campos as well as continued tension between the 31-year-old and PSG star man Kylian Mbappé, who is reportedly open to seeing the back of the Brazilian come the summer if he is to remain in the capital.

Neymar was absent in terms of his performance on the pitch last night in PSG’s first-leg loss against Bayern Munich, throwing further speculation surrounding what comes next for the attacking dynamo.

It should come as no surprise that Chelsea would be seriously interested in the prospect of bringing Neymar to the Premier League, and the notion that the Blues are one of the only clubs capable of affording the fee and inevitable massive wage packet that it would take to secure his services stands them in good stead regarding their chances.
