It’s the beginning of a new year so of course, rumors are starting to swirl about what the newest iPhone might look like. And what’s the one feature that everyone will be the most curious about? The camera notch … or in the case of this rumor, the lack thereof.

Yep, that’s right. According to a new mockup from Ian Zelbo (based on all the latest rumors), the iPhone 14 Pro might be shaking things up with a small pill-shaped cutout and moving past the large dated notch. And honestly? It looks terrific—the design has really stepped up a notch! For comparison, you can see how it looks alongside the current iPhone 13 below:

The Face ID cameras are likely to move beneath the smartphone’s display, so all that’ll be contained in that pill-shaped cutout will be the front-facing camera. Hopefully, Apple plans to make better use of all the screen real estate it’ll free up with this new design, like showing more notifications and information up top. Similarly, another source recently claimed to be “able to corroborate” a simple hole punch design for the iPhone 14 Pro models.

I am able to corroborate information regarding a hole punch camera for the pro models of the iPhone 14. Face ID hardware will be placed under the display. As a reassurance to any concerns, the functionality of these sensors have not been negatively affected by this change.

Either way, we’re looking forward to seeing confirmation of this lovely design in this year’s new iPhone model. The iPhone 14’s official release will likely be sometime around September, so stay tuned, as we’ll keep you updated with all of the latest iPhone 14 rumors.
