A little bit sooner than expected, today Microsoft announced the general availability of Windows 11 for both new devices preloaded with Windows 11 and in the form of an upgrade for eligible Windows 10 devices. The offer is expected to arrive within the next few hours, days or months.
After release for eligible devices, as with previous implementations, Microsoft will study device health data and other signals to determine the pace at which Windows 11 will be delivered through Windows Update. After all, hardware, reliability metrics, and other factors impact the upgrade experience. According to a recent survey, most professional PCs are not yet compatible with the system.
Microsoft expects all eligible Windows 10 devices to be offered for the Windows 11 upgrade by mid-2022. Home and Pro editions of Windows 11 has started.
If you are running Windows 10 today, you can check if your device is eligible to update using the PC Health Check app. If so, try going to Settings and then Windows Update Update and Security. If your device is eligible and the update is ready, just click on the download and install option that will appear. Have you installed or plan to install Windows 11 in the next few days?
