At works on the Luís I Bridge, which connects Porto and Gaia, will affect, for a period of one year, lines 900, 901, 906 and 11M of STCP, which still admits constraints on other lines due to metro works.
In response to Lusa, the Sociedade de Transportes Coletivos do Porto ( STCP) states that the closing to the transit of the lower deck of the Luís I Bridge, for maintenance works, “will imply the impossibility of making the crossing, in both directions, with the lines 900, 901, 906 and 11M, for a period of one year”.
“Aware of the repercussions that these circulation constraints have on the daily operation of the STCP network and the impact on the day-to-day of its passengers, the company is already studying solutions that make mobility viable of its customers together with the municipalities of Porto and Gaia”, refers to STCP in response to Lusa.
In due time, it will be indicated which lines will undergo course changes and the solutions found to alleviate the effects caused by these works on the D. Luís I Bridge and the expansion of the metro network.
Agreed with Infrastructures of Portugal (IP), transit on the bottom board of the P Onte Luís I will close from October 14th for rehabilitation works that aim, among others, to repair a set of anomalies already identified, most of which are related to the surface corrosion of metallic elements and others that may be identified in the course of of the works.
In a statement sent to Lusa on Wednesday, IP stated that, to minimize the impacts of this intervention, it will be allowed the passage of pedestrians in a conditioned situation, through platforms assembled for that purpose.
In a note published on the same day on your page Officially, the City Council of Porto indicated that car traffic will be routed along recommended routes, adding that anyone traveling in the Ribeira or central area of Porto, and wishing to access the margin of Vila Nova de Gaia, you should head towards Ponte do Infante.
Already traffic from the eastern zone from the city will be routed to Ponte do Freixo, while road traffic in the western zone will have preferential access to Ponte da Arrábida, continues the municipality.
All these recommendations will be duly signed by the City Council of Porto, which will place, over the next few days, adequate signage for this purpose.
The
STCP ensures the Public road passenger transport in the Porto Metropolitan Area, on an exclusive basis within the limits of the municipality of Porto, and under the general concession regime in the neighboring municipalities — Matosinhos, Maia, Valongo, Gondomar and Vila Nova de Gaia.
Since the beginning of the year operator is in the inter-municipal sphere, and its management is assumed by the municipalities of Porto, Gaia, Gondomar , Matosinhos , Valongo and Maia, who signed on August 28, 2019 a memorandum of understanding with the Government.
