Extinction Rebellion: Demonstrators had to be pulled down from the wooden scaffolding
The Extinction Rebellion group again blocked downtown Zurich with sit-ins. Shortly before 3 p.m. the traffic could flow again, 15 climate activists were arrested by the police.
As announced, members of the Extinction Rebellion group Roads in downtown Zurich were blocked again on Tuesday lunchtime: among other things, the Rudolf-Brun-Brücke, Uraniastrasse and Sihlstrasse were in places not passable according to the police. At around 2:45 p.m. the last demonstrators were removed by the police and the street was reopened to traffic.
The city police started early Afternoon with clearing the bridge and carrying away the activists. Two demonstrators are said to have glued their hands together. They were removed in duplicate. On Uraniastrasse, not far from Bahnhofstrasse, demonstrators climbed onto a wooden scaffold. Fetching them back on the floor turned out to be extremely time-consuming.
We have cleared the blockade on the Rudolf-Brun-Bridge and opened it to traffic again. The mission on the Uraniastrasse is still ongoing. This still leads to restrictions. ^ spa

Members of the Extinction Rebellion group had already on Monday set the Uraniastrasse and thus obstructed the flow of traffic for over five hours. With their actions scheduled over several days, they want to get the Federal Council to recognize the climate crisis and take measures quickly.
The city police had it on Monday 134 people – 67 women and 67 men – arrested. 43 activists are still in custody; they were handed over to the public prosecutor’s office. The others were evicted for 24 hours and released from police custody.
