על פי נתוני המרכז הלאומי לבקרת מחלות, החלה ירידה בפעילות השפעת הנצפית בישראל. הירידה מתבטאת בירידה במספר האשפוזים החדשים שנוספו בשבוע האחרון ובירידה בתחלואה דמוית-שפעת בקהילה.

הירידה הנוכחית בתחלואת השפעת היא ירידה מוקדמת בהשוואה לעונות קודמות והיא נובעת, ככל הנראה, ממצב התחלואה בקורונה, שמכתיב ריחוק חברתי הנשמר על ידי הציבור, היעדרות מבתי הספר ומקומות עבודה ועטיית מסיכות.

על פי נתוני המרכז הלאומי לבקרת מחלות, מאז ספטמבר 2021 ועד לשבוע האחרון דווחו במצטבר 4,143 חולים מאושפזים מאומתים לשפעת, ביניהם 1,036 ילדים ובני נוער מתחת לגיל 18 שנים ו-253 יולדות ונשים הרות. מרבית החולים נדבקו בנגיף שפעת מסוג A שזוהה במעבדה המרכזית לנגיפים כשפעת מתת-סוג A/H3, הכלול בתרכיב החיסון נגד שפעת הניתן בעונה זו בישראל.
