620,000 tests in two days, new maximum values

Portugal had a new maximum of testing on Christmas Eve, “with more than 620,000 tests of
diagnosis performed in just two days (4.6% positivity rate)”, said the Ricardo Jorge Institute this Sunday.

These numbers, which do not include self-tests , were reached on the 23rd and 24th of December. “Of the total tests carried out, approximately 132,000 were TAAN/PCR tests and more than 488 thousand Tests
Rapid Antigen (TRAg) for professional use”, clarifies the institute.

“On December 23, nearly 360,000 tests were carried out, a new maximum of daily testing, and on December 24, more than 260,000 tests, in what was the second day with the most tests carried out since the beginning of the pandemic”, can be read in the statement sent to the newsrooms.

Until the At present, “more than 25 million diagnostic tests
have been carried out in Portugal for covid-19, approximately 16.2 million TAAN/PCR tests and about 8.9 million

of TRAg for professional use”.

In December alone, ” month with the most tests performed since the beginning of the pandemic”, “more than 3.7 million diagnostic tests were performed to covid-19, with a daily average of about 155,000 tests”.
