According to the news of the Mesopotamia Agency, in the panel, “What is the role of the state in the impunity and massacre files?”, “The roles of ISIS women in the organization and massacre processes”, “The effects of what happened in the 2015 process and what was hidden on the struggle for justice today. titles such as
“We know the murderer”
Çağla Seven, from the Suruç families who survived the massacre with injuries, demanded justice in her speech: “If justice will come one day, it will come from here, not from the courtrooms we see. Today, we still have not healed our wounds. I say this after every surgery. To heal, justice must come. After those bombs exploded, everything was not over, those left behind were always declared terrorists. If the grave of one of those who died in the Suruç massacre is broken 12 times today, if a mother is still in detention because of the speech she made at the graveside, it is proof of this country’s history of massacres and how it marginalized dissident people. We know the killer. We continue to struggle. We have been going to the hearings in empty dock chairs for 20 hearings. A justice mechanism is being presented to us as justice in a way that will make our wounds bleed even more.”
Taskekin: The fight against ISIS is not real
According to Mühdan Sağlam from the newspaper Wall, who has studies on the war that started in Syria in 2011. Journalist Fehim Taştekin said:
“Turkey’s fight against ISIS is not real. There is an implicit agreement between security forces and ISIS. The agreement includes: Shelter and not taking action/attack inside in return for financial transfer. ISIS members are easily released in the judiciary with effective remorse law. Important names are arrested and released. The rest are on trial or released with little sentences. Security units seem to be tolerant when it comes to ISIS. From the defeat of ISIS on the ground Turkey is the most comfortable place to shoot after. There is a judiciary that does not prosecute crimes committed abroad. a Although ISIS is subject to an operation inside, it does not destroy its ability to move and shelter. For example, ISIS is hiding Yazidi women it kidnapped in Turkey.”
Classic: Keep in solidarity
Turkey Worker Party deputy Ahmet Şık said, “I am watching the case and I am devastated. There is a judicial practice that does not even show empathy to the disappeared. If one of the perpetrators is a public official, a wall is built in front of you. As long as this power remains in place, we cannot hold any accountability, not only this. The Diyarbakır massacre, the Berkin Elvan Dilek Doğan can’t be held accountable for what’s lived in Syria,” she said. Expressing that we are going through a period when everyone is at risk, Şık said, “Therefore, we will continue to stand side by side and in solidarity.”
Allah: We will bring justice
CHP deputy lawyer Sezgin Tanrıkulu also said that the then prime minister Ahmet Davutoğlu’s words about ISIS members are “We are catching”. but we have to release it”. Tanrıkulu said, “Since 2012, ISIS has been carrying out intense activities within the borders of Turkey. While carrying out these activities, they did not face any investigations or lawsuits. The reason is that Turkey does not define ISIS as a terrorist organization. We all know how tolerant the judiciary showed towards the accused in all these massacres. The political choice of this government has prepared such a ground with the war in Syria and the judiciary has not taken its stance. But don’t worry, we have a memory. We will hold accountable before the judiciary independent of those who do this and condone it, and we will achieve justice.”
Gönültaş: There is an online slave sale
Journalist Hale Gönültaş also explained how the Yazidi woman, children, were brought to Turkey based on her journalistic activities: “ISIS’ There were too many people who came back from those who went. Most of the returnees are in Altındağ, Ulus. I had the opportunity to meet with them in person. Most of those who came to Turkey from Syria brought large numbers of Yazidi women and children. They forcibly keep most of the women and children in their homes. Yazidi families are trying to save women and children by their own means. ISIS has an online slave sales room. Families buy by paying some money for their children who are put up for sale through this channel.”
Coşkun: The only thing that feels good is solidarity
One of the families of 10 October, lawyer Mehtap Sakinci Coşgun said that as families, they came together in a short time, struggled and organized. Coşgun said, “But when we put our heads on the pillow, we still do not sleep because we think ‘if we have done everything, how can we get this to a better point since there is no real justice’,” said Coşgun.
Lastly, Sevinç Hocaoğulları, one of the lawyers of the 10 October Ankara Massacre file, emphasized that they are continuing a legal struggle together. Stating that the struggle for justice they promised is also important, Hocaoğulları said, “The thing that will heal us will be equality, peace and justice.”
After the panel, the opening of the “Wings flying to peace” exhibition was held.
