Ozzy Osbourne enters crypto-world through NFTs

The Black Sabbath singer, Ozzy Osbourne took to Twitter to announce the launch of his first non-fungible-tokens (NFT), titled Cryptobatz. The collection is being designed by Ozzy himself and NFT studio Sutter Systems. There will be a total of 9,666 bats that will be out, which is a knowing nod to the infamous moment he bit the head off a live bat at an on-stage performance in 1982, Des Moines, Iowa.

According to reports, the project will be the world’s first NFT to have a mutating feature where the owners can birth another NFT by ‘biting’ and mutating with another NFT from their digital wallet including Bored Ape Yacht Club, SupDucks, Cryptotoadz, and a fourth mystery project that has not yet been unveiled.

The prince of darkness said that he had been wanting to buy his NFT for a while now, but after his wife, Sharon Osbourne refused to let him, the decision of making an NFT of his own was born, according to his interview with RollingStone.

“CryptoBatz is a fucking mental project for NFT collectors and fans. The design pays tribute to one of my most iconic on-stage moments and is a chance to acquire a rare piece of art history. I love it!”

It was stated that the NFT can be bought when the whitelist pre-sale opens on 27 December on the CryptoBatz discord channel. Successful applicants will be able to mint up three CryptoBatz per digital wallet, while public minting will start in early February 2022.

In other news, sources have confirmed that Ozzy is set to start AncientBatz, a treasure hunt for CryptoBatz holders which will see the virtual batz scattered around the globe in hidden locations.

Many musicians have embraced the same plunge into the world of NFTs as Ozzy. Despite the drastic change that NFTs have gone through, what remains true to this day is the core premise of the NFT which is that it is still a representation of a unique item, instead of a fungible token.
