Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian said China was deeply concerned about the incident with the US nuclear submarine in the international waters of the Indo-Pacific region.
“China is seriously worried about this incident,” the Chinese diplomat said, RIA Novosti reported. The collision of a US submarine in the South China Sea while underwater was unusual and an investigation is ongoing.
In the collision, 11 crew members sustained injuries that the Navy said were moderate and minor, including scratches and bruises.
The US nuclear submarine US S “Connecticut” collided with an unidentified object during navigation in the Indo-Pacific region, the press service of the Pacific Fleet of the US Navy announced yesterday. According to Fox News, the incident took place in the South China Sea.
The report states that the submarine did not collide with another submarine.
