The actress, singer and dancer Ariana DeBose premiered this Saturday night on the popular American show Saturday Night Live, where she once again put herself in the shoes of Anita, her character in West Side Story. She was proud to represent the Latino and theatrical community.

DeBose, a 30-year-old American of Hispanic origin, stands out in Hollywood thanks to West Side Story. This is Steven Spielgerg’s recent film adaptation of the famous 1961 musical, which has already given her the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress and a Screen Actors Guild nomination in the same category.
The episode began with a medley of songs from the play, including “Tonight”, “I Feel Pretty”, ” Something’s Coming” and “America” as a duet with Kate McKinnon, one of the show’s comedians. Then she joined the rest in sketches, among which she played a press officer for the new New York mayor, Eric Adams.
Throughout the program, which concentrates the largest television audience in the United States on Saturday night, a recreated scene from the musical also stood out The Sound of Music in which DeBose sang the song “Do Re Mi” full of humorous references to current pop culture , mentioning Homer Simpson or the actress Queen Latifah.
