Audi e-tron GT Launched in India

Audi has taken another step towards promoting electric mobility in India by launching e-tron GT and the higher-performance RS e-tron GT variant. The former is priced at Rs 1.80 crore, while the latter comes with a price tag of Rs 2.05 crore, ex-showroom.

The e-tron GT is an all-electric sports car with dual electric motors that produce 475kW (637bhp) and 830Nm of torque in the RS version. The RS e-tron GT can accelerate from zero to 100kh in a mere 3.3 seconds and travel up to 481km on a single charge. The regular e-tron GT isn’t far behind, with a zero to 100kph time of 4.1 seconds and a range of up to 500km. With a DC fast charger, the e-tron GT can take on an 80% charge in just over 20 minutes and, as with all-electric cars, the e-tron’s range depends on the driving style and road and traffic conditions.

In addition to being a high-performance sports sedan, the e-tron GT also offers high levels of comfort, with adaptive air suspension and generous cabin space for four adult occupants. With quattro all-wheel-drive, the car provides high levels of grip and high-speed stability even on the wet and slippery tarmac. It features tungsten carbide brake callipers that offer powerful stopping performance.

The interiors are as luxurious as you’d expect of a car that costs Rs Two Crore; there’s Nappa leather upholstery, 18-way adjustable sports seats, 3-zone air-conditioning and a high-end B&O sound system, along with Audi’s virtual cockpit, fully digital instrumentation and MMI navigation and infotainment. The e-tron GT also gets a host of electronic driver aids, including a lane departure warning system, park assist plus with 360-degree cameras, anti-lock brakes, traction control and multiple airbags all around.

‘Today is a milestone day for us as we launch India’s first electric supercars. This is our fourth and fifth electric vehicle launch since July ’21, and we couldn’t be more excited for our customers,’ says Balbir Singh Dhillon, Head of Audi India. ‘The Audi e-tron GT and the Audi RS e-tron GT are the ultimate brand shapers from Audi and are the manifestation of Audi’s continuous evolution as a progressive premium brand. These two four-door coupes symbolize our DNA and our ambition to shape the future of premium mobility,’ he adds.

Audi, which had earlier launched the e-tron 50, e-tron 55 and e-tron Sportback 55 electric SUVs in India, says that those vehicles are already sold out completely. The company is firmly committed to electric mobility and will gradually phase out the internal combustion engine over the next ten years. Petrolheads, however, have nothing to fear since Audi’s all-electric cars and SUVs are beautifully designed and, in terms of outright power and performance, are already inching ahead of their IC-engined predecessors. The future is bright, the future is electric.
