The wave of price increases continues in Romania. A liter of premium gasoline ended up selling for 7 lei at the pump, an increase of almost 40% compared to the price requested last year. In 2020, a liter of fuel costs less than 5 lei, according to data from the Fuel Price Monitor, an application launched by the Competition Council two years ago.
According to Agerpres, The most expensive gasoline is sold in OMV and Gazprom gas stations, where drivers pay 7.09 lei per liter. The other gas stations also have similar prices: Petrom – 6.88 lei, MOL – 6.99 lei, Lukoil – 6.76 lei, Socar – 6.59 lei.
If we talk about standard gasoline, the highest price is 6.5 lei. Gazprom remains the most expensive gas station and in this case, with 6.5 lei per liter, followed by OMV and Rompetrol, with 6.49 lei. Other prices are Petrom – 6.43 lei, MOL – 6.27 lei, Lukoil – 6.06 lei and Socar – 6.09 lei.
And premium diesel has become more expensive , the liter is now sold for 6.81 lei, at Gazprom, OMV and Rompetrol sell a liter with 6.8 lei, while Petrom – 6.55 lei, MOL – 6.69 lei, Lukoil – 6.35 lei, Socar – 6.39 lei.
The standard version reached, at Gazprom, 6.32 lei per liter and 6.31 lei at OMV and Rompetrol. Petrom sells the fuel for 6.25 lei, MOL – 6.17 lei, Lukoil – 5.99 lei, Socar – 6.09 lei.
The prices shown were charged Friday, October 8, 2021, at the OMV, Petrom, Rompetrol, Lukoil and MOL gas stations on the Autostrada Soarelui and in its vicinity, the Gazprom stations on the A1 and Socar in Chiajna.
Record price in the last seven years
Since the beginning of 2021, drivers across the country have given more and more money to liter of gasoline . The upward trend has continued in recent days, the price of gasoline, on average, reaching, on October 6, 6.09 lei per liter, the highest value recorded in the last seven years. The threshold was last exceeded, on July 23, 2014. At that time, the liter of fuel was sold at 6.39 lei.
At the opposite pole, the minimum value of the price at gasoline was reached in May last year. Then, a liter was sold for 4.15 lei, the lowest price in the last ten years in Romania. The price of diesel had also dropped to the lowest in recent years, selling for about 4.4 lei per liter.
