Covid ga je spodbudil, da se je po 15 letih trenerskega dela na Bližnjem vzhodu vrnil v Slovenijo. V Kuvajtu, Iranu in Bahrajnu se še vedno počuti kot doma.

Po skoraj dveh desetletjih dela v tujini se je v Slovenijo vrnil Borut Maček, nekdanji rokometaš, ki si je predvsem na Bližnjem vzhodu ustvaril ime kot trener in selektor. Zdaj je že približno leto dni spet doma v Šmartnu pri Litiji, in kot pravi, »živi lajf«. »Odločitev, da se vrnem iz Kuvajta, je spodbudil covid, saj se ni vedelo, ali se bo še igralo ali ne. Vse je bilo nedorečeno. Čutil pa sem tudi, da potrebujem za nekaj časa premor od vsega,« pravi 55-letnik, ki že vse življenje diha z rokometom. Tudi po njegovi zaslugi je ta igra na Bližnjem vzhodu dosegla večjo priljubljenost in višjo raven.
