Gaon Chart has announced its latest batch of official certifications!
In 2018, the Korea Music Content Industry Association implemented a new certification system for album sales, song downloads, and online streaming. Starting with music released on or after January 1, 2018, Gaon Chart now certifies albums platinum once they reach 250,000 sales, while albums that have sold a million copies or more receive a “million” certification.
On February 10, Gaon Chart announced that BTS’s CD single “Butter” had received an official triple million certification after selling over 3 million copies.
Meanwhile, NCT’s latest studio album “Universe” earned an official million certification after selling over a million copies since its release in December.
Both Stray Kids’ holiday single album “Christmas EveL” and ITZY’s first studio album “CRAZY IN LOVE” received official double platinum certifications after selling over 500,000 copies each.
Additionally, ATEEZ’s “ZERO : FEVER EPILOGUE,” IVE’s debut single album “ELEVEN,” EXO’s Kai’s solo mini album “Peaches,” SM Entertainment’s agency-wide winter album “2021 Winter SMTOWN: SMCU EXPRESS,” and TREASURE’s “THE FIRST STEP : CHAPTER THREE” were all certified platinum after selling over 250,000 copies each.
In the download category, Red Velvet’s 2018 hit “Power Up” earned a platinum certification after reaching 2.5 million downloads.
Finally, Lee Mujin’s “Traffic light” was certified platinum in the streaming category after surpassing 100 million streams, while Anne-Marie’s hit song “2002” was certified platinum for surpassing 300 million streams.
Congratulations to all of the artists on their impressive achievements!
