The Cars of the Skoda, VW and Seat types were parked in the Kleine Stadtgutgasse in front of a service to combat human trafficking. The police fire group and the Office for the Protection of the Constitution (LVT) are leading the investigation, which, according to Interior Minister Gerhard Karner (ÖVP), was “in full swing”. The department head condemned last night’s “arson attack in the strongest terms”. According to Karner, it was not just “an insidious attack on the police”, but above all a danger for the residents.

Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) also condemned “the attack on employees of the Federal Criminal Police Office”. The pictures of the arson attack are shocking, Nehammer said on Twitter. The Chancellor wished a speedy recovery to a firefighter who was injured while putting out the fire.

The fire brigade was alerted at around 1.30 a.m. According to a spokesman for the professional fire brigade, she moved out with two extinguishing group vehicles and one breathing apparatus vehicle. 15 forces fought the flames for around three quarters of an hour using two extinguishing lines and respiratory protection.
