The Butler Bulldogs and the Georgetown Hoyas are set to square off in a Big East matchup at noon ET Jan. 29 at Hinkle Fieldhouse. The Bulldogs will be strutting in after a victory while Georgetown will be stumbling in from a defeat.
Butler didn’t have too much trouble with the Creighton Bluejays at home on Wednesday as they won 72-55. Four players on Butler scored in the double digits: guard Bo Hodges (18), guard Chuck Harris (14), guard Simas Lukosius (14), and forward Bryce Golden (10).
Meanwhile, Georgetown was expected to have a tough go of it on Tuesday, and, well, they did. They found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unfortunate 96-73 punch to the gut against the Connecticut Huskies. The losing side was boosted by guard Aminu Mohammed, who had 15 points in addition to seven boards.
Butler is the favorite in this one, with an expected 5.5-point margin of victory. At 3-7 against the spread at home, they are no cash cow. That said, the Hoyas aren’t so hot on the road, where they are 1-3.
The Bulldogs’ win brought them up to 10-10 while Georgetown’s loss pulled them down to 6-11. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
