The young Belgian tourist accused of manslaughter after having caused at the end of June a fatal accident on Lake Como, in northern Italy, has reached an agreement with the Italian justice for two years in prison and the payment of compensation, the amount of which remains to be defined, reports Saturday He Corriere della Sera.
On June 25, the A young Belgian was at the controls of a powerful boat (with 11 friends on board, one of whom was waterskiing, an unauthorized number) when it hit a smaller boat head-on with three people on board. One of them, Luca Fusi (22), was killed. The other two were injured. The Belgian-flagged vessel, which was traveling at excessive speed in a busy area, had passed over. The Belgian tourist has since been under house arrest in her family vacation home in Lenno.
This arrangement with the courts comes a little more than three months after the tragedy. The restrictive measures have therefore been lifted, the young Belgian is free to leave the country.
The transaction will soon have to be confirmed before a judge.
