He also sees other disadvantages in using electric cars, such as too few charging stations.
Although he is not a supporter of the “green energy policy”, he has high hopes for the traffic light coalition.
The business manager and chairman of the supervisory board of the automotive supplier “Continental AG” has in an interview with the business magazine “Manager Magazin” expressed his opinion on electric cars. According to Reitzle, electric cars make no significant contribution to the climate as long as German electricity is CO2-heavy.
In addition, the cars are not suitable for everyday use for many people and there are also too few charging stations in Germany. Reitzle says of the fact that sales of e-cars in Germany have almost doubled in 2021: “No wonder. The state subsidizes cars with up to 6,000 euros, the manufacturer adds 3,000 euros, including tax benefits, so the subsidy totals around 20,000 euros over the term. That has nothing to do with sensible start-up financing for a future technology, nor with a market economy,” reports “Manager Magazin”.

Although Reitzle has great hopes for the traffic light coalition, he is not considered a supporter of “green energy policy”. When asked how the two fit together, the business manager says: “There are enough politicians in the SPD and especially in the FDP who approach such a coalition fresh and future-oriented.”
He continues: “And the Greens will also be realistic enough not to subsidize electric cars with billions in the long term if they do not contribute to the climate balance.” Nevertheless, Reitzle is of the opinion that that the future of the car is electric. Nevertheless, there will have to be a long transition period, because wanting to shorten it would be extremely damaging to Germany as a business location, he says.
