COVID-19: more than 53 thousand doses of vaccines arrived in Huila

The Departmental Health Secretariat proposes to lead intensification sessions in the municipalities of Neiva and Pitalito to take advantage of the available biologicals.

Starting this Tuesday, the distribution process to the municipalities of 53,130 doses of biologicals begins to give continuity to the Departmental Plan of Vaccination that will allow progress in the coverage of first and second doses.

19,180 doses of Moderna, 10,350 of Janssen and 23,600 of AstraZeneca, and the respective distribution has already been made, waiting for the municipalities to arrive at the department’s collection center to collect and transfer the biologicals to their respective vaccinating IPS.

“We are going to strengthen the delivery of vaccines and make a wide call in the municipalities of Neiva and Pitalito to boost the immunization process. From now on, we have summoned all the vaccinating IPS of Neiva and Pitalito so that next weekend the development of an intensification day is guaranteed, which we aspire to be carried out every fifteen days ”reported César Alberto Polanía Silva, Secretary of Health of Huila .

The goal is that during the last three months of 2021 the population benefiting from vaccines will increase to face the possible fourth peak that is already occurring in other regions of the country.

Third dose for over 70 years

The secretary of health also announced that the circular is already being issued that will allow to start the application of the third dose to people over 70 years of age, for which the existing biologicals in the department will be available in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection.

“In case of limitation in the bility of the Pfizer vaccine, people over 70 years of age who have been receiving the second dose more than six months will be able to access the Moderna vaccine as a booster dose ”indicated Polanía Silva.

Advances of the Departmental Vaccination Plan
With cutoff to October 3, 2021, 880,000 vaccines have been assigned to Huila, of which 875,315 have been distributed to the municipalities and 806,799 doses have been placed, which represents an execution of 91.7%.

468,729 correspond to first doses, 262,728 a second dose and 67,013 single dose, where the municipalities of Yaguará, Baraya, Teruel and Tesalia lead the advance towards herd immunity.

The municipalities of Suaza , Acevedo, Guadalupe and Tarqui are called to intensify the vaccination days to continue advancing in the protection of their inhabitants against the SarsCov2 virus.
