US mobile operators will only be allowed to roll out their 5G network in 2 weeks. Objections came from the Aviation Authority.

US President Joe Biden welcomed an agreement between mobile operators and US regulators, which will now allow for the rollout of nationwide 5G cellular in 2 weeks enabled. The Network Operators AT&T and Verizon agreed on the use of the so-called C-band late on Monday – i.e. a certain frequency range – up to 19. January .

C-band rollout for 5G nationwide service has been delayed after pressure from the White House and airlines. The aviation unions also threatened to sue against the operation. Biden said the “agreement ensures that over the next

2 weeks will not be disrupted to flight operations.”

The aviation industry and the

US Federal Aviation Administration

have raised concerns about possible interference from 5G with sensitive aircraft electronics such as radio altimeters, which could disrupt flight operations. Verizon CEO, Hans Vestberg, told employees in an email on Tuesday that the company doesn’t see a safety issue in aviation with 5G, but notes, “We felt it was the right thing for the passengers was to give the FAA a little time to sort out their problems with the aviation community.”

No delay after January 19

US Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg and FAA Administrator Steve Dickson AT&T and Verizon said in a letter Monday that authorities will not seek further delays in the rollout of 5G wireless services beyond Jan. 19 – as long as there are no “unforeseen problems with flight safety”. The agreement “will give us additional time and space to reduce the impact on commercial flights,” they wrote the US authorities “will not seek or request any further delays unless ‘unforeseen flight safety issues’ arise.”

Voluntary 5G Restricted Zones

AT&T and Verizon on Sunday agreed to 6 months of restricted zones to set up some airports to adopt the protection measures already put in place by France.

AT&T and Verizon have last year in a $80 billion auction bought almost the entire C-band spectrum. In total, Verizon paid $52.9 billion by more than 100 million to reach Americans. AT&T paid $23.4 billion. It was only in November that the two mobile phone providers initially agreed to start operating by

30 days to 5. January after the authority had expressed security concerns.

Communication problem from the USA

The Austrian

Mobile Communication Forum (FMK), a lobby group for the mobile communications industry, stated in mid-December: “Of course, 5G has already been introduced in the USA. Apparently this is a communication problem in the USA In any case, 5G has been running in Austria for three years in the said C band (3.6 GHz), for example on the Vienna Airport , as was to be expected, trouble-free .”

Major Quantum Computing Strategy Suffers Serious Setbacks

In 2018, researchers at the forefront of an entirely new approach to building quantum computers published, in the journal Nature, what looked to be a landmark achievement. Existing quantum computers are notoriously fragile, their quantum bits — qubits — prone to incurring random errors. But if the qubits could be made from strange configurations of…
