Data Centre Platform Empyrion Digital Hires Former Flow CEO Amandine Wang

Amandine Wang

Amandine started work as chief commercial officer at Empyrion this month

Empyrion Digital has appointed Amandine Wang as its chief commercial officer, following her departure from her chief executive role at competitor Flow Digital Infrastructure.

With over 20 years of experience in real estate, data centre investment and data centre operations, Wang will take charge of Singapore-based Empyrion’s commercial efforts while also leading the company’s strategic planning.

A portfolio company of infrastructure fund manager Seraya Partners, Empyrion Digital is a digital infrastructure platform that develops and operates sustainable data centres for enterprise and hyperscale colocation customers in Asia. Wang’s leadership skills are expected to drive the company’s continued growth.

“I am pleased to join [the] Empyrion Digital family,” Wang said on LinkedIn. “[I’m] looking forward to working with such [a] talented team and [the] supporting shareholders Seraya Partners.”

Departure from Flow

From January 2022 until recently Wang was employed as chief executive officer at Flow Digital Infrastructure, a Singapore-based unit of Hong Kong private equity firm PAG, which focuses on investing in and operating key digital infrastructure assets in Asia Pacific.

Wang oversaw FLOW’s commercial, investment and operations functions and focused on driving company growth and enabling digital economies across the Asia Pacific region.

PAG has confirmed to Mingtiandi that, following Wang’s departure, a new CEO for Flow Digital Infrastructure has been identified. Until that appointment, Phi Le, a partner and co-head of real assets at PAG, has stepped in to take the lead as interim CEO.

Inoue joins the EQT-backed digital infrastructure provider after serving for three years as managing director and project development director for Japan with Aquila Clean Energy, a platform that develops and manages renewable energy assets. The graduate of Japan’s Seikei University also has experience as a development director with Macquarie Capital Securities in Tokyo.

In his new role, Inoue will also provide leadership across the APAC region, while driving strategic growth for EdgeConneX, which covers data centre requirements from hyperlocal to hyperscale. His duties will include implementing the company’s Japanese market development strategy, including real estate and power acquisition, as well as potential joint venture partnerships.

Inoue said: “My focus will be on strengthening our market presence, building a robust in-country team, and driving strategic partnerships that align with our long-term vision for sustainable expansion in the region.”

EdgeConneX views Japan as a rapidly growing market and has plans to develop data centres throughout the country, capitalising on the country’s growth in cloud and AI services, as well as its rapidly evolving tech ecosystem.

Kelvin Fong, EdgeConneX’s managing director for Asia Pacific, said: “His exceptional leadership skills and comprehensive experience in infrastructure projects and strategic planning will be instrumental as we expand our footprint in the APAC region. We are confident that his vision and commitment will drive our growth and innovation.”
