Day of the Dead 2021 in Mexico: holidays, origin of celebration and history

However, with the arrival of the Spanish, the celebration became mestizo and new elements and Catholic meanings were added. The commemoration will begin this October 31 with lighted candles, the night of the following day the people will pray and put offerings. In the same way, they will remember their deceased through parties and, in some places, many will spend the night in the pantheons. When the celebration ends, the family members will taste all the drinks and dishes that they have put.

On the Day of the Dead, according to tradition, all the loved ones who have The deceased will return to be with their relatives, nourishing themselves from the offerings placed in their honor. For the living it is an opportunity for meditation and prayer, an ideal time to reflect on death.

When Will the holidays be for the Day of the Dead 2021?

The Federal Labor Law mentions in its article 74 that only the workers during holidays that have both physical and religious reasons, so that they celebrate it “with complete freedom.” Therefore, November 2 does not enter the conversation.

However, public education students and teachers will have holidays. According to the official calendar for the 2021-2022 school year published by the SEP, on Monday and Tuesday, November 1 and 2, there will be no activity in the schools. Banks and universities will also not have activity these days.
