Decathlon Elops LD500E e-bike launches for urban rides with 115 km range

Decathlon has revealed its new LD500E electric bicycle, now available in countries such as France and Germany. The urban bike is suitable for longer journeys, with up to 115 km (~71 miles) of assistance range. A 250 W motor provides up to 45 Nm of torque, plus the bike has a built-in USB port to charge gadgets on the go.

The Decathlon Elops LD500E e-bike has been launched in European countries, including France and Germany. The bicycle is described as being perfect for city rides and longer journeys. The electric bike has a 504 Wh battery providing up to 115 km (~71 miles) of assistance range on a single charge; you can fully recharge the power pack in around seven hours. 

The 250 W motor provides up to 45 Nm of torque; a torque sensor built into the bottom bracket allows for natural feeling assistance, with a 1×8 speed transmission. An LCD dashboard mounted on the handlebars provides information such as the battery charge level and your speed. You can use the display to switch between the three power modes or to select walk assistance mode. Plus, an integrated USB port enables you to charge devices on the go. AXA BLUELINE Lights and reflective strips on the tires help you to see and be seen, and TEKTRO TKD32 hydraulic disc brakes provide shorter stopping distances.

The bicycle has a 6061 aluminum frame, and the weight of a medium-sized version of the bike is 23 kg (~51 lbs). You can buy the Decathlon Elops LD500E e-bike for €1,649 (~US$1,602). A low frame model is available in a Gray-green in sizes S – M for riders who are 1.55 to 1.74 m (~5 ft 1-in to 5 ft 8-in) tall. A high frame version comes in Anthracite gray with sizes M – XL for riders from 1.65 to 1.95 m (~5 ft 5-in to 6 ft 5-in) tall.
