In part of the center of Sofia in February the speed will be limited to 30 km / h. First, this “Zone 30” will be valid in the square between the boulevards “Pencho Slaveykov”, “Prague”, “Skobelev” and “Vitosha”, explained the Deputy Mayor for Transport Christian Krastev. The project for the next zone, which will be between Hristo Botev Blvd., Alabin St., Patriarch Evtimiy Blvd. and Angel Kanchev St., is ready.

“Speeding restrictions in the center of the capital will increase road safety and stimulate shared use of areas,” said Krastev.

“Zone 30” will be marked by placing the appropriate road signs marking the beginning and end of the zone. This is expected to stimulate the wider use of alternative methods of transportation, commented the Sofia Municipality.

“Zone 30” is currently operating in the entire center of Burgas , as well as in the neighborhoods of Sarafovo and Kraimorie. “This measure can be considered as an option for the introduction of a low-emission zone in the maritime city, as one of the effects is the reduction of air pollution with exhaust gases from cars due to the lack of sudden stops and starts as a result of calm traffic.” , explained by the Municipality of Burgas for “Dnevnik”.
