British soul luminary Elmiene has surprise-released a new EP, ‘Live From 525’, via Def Jam Recordings/Polydor Records.

The intimate nine-track release is derived from an impromptu jam session that was broadcast via Instagram Live from a Los Angeles Airbnb earlier this summer. ‘Live From 525’ sees the Oxford artist star perform recent singles ‘Sweetness‘ and ‘Crystal Tears‘, in addition to two new unreleased songs, alongside covers and stripped back interpretations of songs by Cleo Sol, Prince, Dijon and Midnight Star.

In a recent interview with CLASH, Elmiene, a student of RnB classics, shared his undying admiration for D’Angelo. On ‘Live From 525’, he covers the soul pioneer’s seminal track, ‘Untitled (How Does It Feel)?’. Elmiene also shares a cover of Frank Ocean’s ‘Pink Matter’, which has been in demand from fans since he teased it on Instagram.

Having already announced a North American tour, and with European dates soon to follow – including another London headline show – Elmiene is emerging as a consummate live performer. He recently supported SZA at BST Hyde Park, where he gave fans an early performance of forthcoming single, ‘Light Work’.
