Health Minister Alain Berset is currently not planning any stricter measures in the fight against the pandemic.
On Wednesday, Alain Berset talked to the President of the Cantonal Health Directors’ Conference (GDK), Lukas Engelberger, and other health directors about the corona pandemic by telephone.
«Stricter measures (including closings) are ready. Should they be necessary, the Federal Council can decide quickly, ”Berset then stated in a tweet. The economy must prepare for more failures and do everything possible to avoid contagion.

Berset stated that the situation is very tense because of Omikron. Hospitals still have capacity, but would have to prepare for more acute cases.
«We are following very closely how the end of the holiday and the start of school affect the hospitals – Hospitalizations and IPS utilization – developed », says Berset. The decisive factor is how many Omikron infected people need intensive care.
Berset once again called on the population to be vaccinated. Vaccination and boosters offer good protection against serious illness and hospitalization. It is also important to reduce contacts, wear a mask, ventilate regularly and test immediately if symptoms occur.
