Manchester City profile Ilkay Gündogan wants to shed light on climate change and the natural disasters that ravaged Germany and Turkey, among others.
Gundogan is going to finance the planting of 5,000 trees in Germany and Turkey and is worried about ever new natural disasters.
– It can not be denied that climate change played a role. It is especially important that we set an example now, so that the events during the summer of 2021 do not become normal for our children, says Gündogan according to the news agency DPA.
The German national team player has Turkish parents and was strongly affected by the natural disasters in the countries where many of his family and friends live.
– I have been very concerned about both of these tragedies. For me who have family and friends in both countries, it was hard to believe, says Gündogan.
