The Cuban health authorities reported 3,596 new cases of coronavirus this Wednesday, the lowest number of infections since July 5, when 3,591 patients were diagnosed.
During the day, 40 deaths were registered, five less than those of the previous day , but more than the 38 announced on Monday 4 October .
With these data, Cuba accumulates, according to official statistics , 904,108 positive cases and exceeds 7,700 deaths, with a total of 7,703 deaths.
Yesterday only 38,066 samples were analyzed, which yielded a positivity of 9.4 per hundred. The provinces with the highest incidence of the disease are Sancti Spíritus (23.3) and Pinar del Río (19.8).
As reported in a press conference by Dr. Francisco Durán García, national director of Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), the 40 deceased resided in 12 provinces of the country.
Only Matanzas, Cienfuegos and Guantánamo, in addition to the Isla de la Juventud special municipality, did not register any deaths.
Of the victims, three were under 50 years of age and three were people without any previous illness.
At the close of Tuesday, October 5, a total of 50,581 patients were admitted to hospitals, isolation centers and at their homes.
Of these, 26,955 are suspected of having the disease, 2,742 are under surveillance and 20,884 are active confirmed cases.
Of the 3,596 cases detected, 3,570 were case contacts confirmed, 24 were infected abroad The origin of the infection has not been specified in two and of two.
Of the new cases, 183 patients (5.1 percent) were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis .
According to the incidence of the disease prepared by the MINSAP, the 3,596 new cases are distributed in the age groups: under 20 years (669) ; from 20 to 39 years old (867), from 40 to 59 years old (1,183), and from 60 years and over (877).
Regarding the residence of the confirmed cases, the province with the worst data continues to be Pinar del Río, which reported 913 new patients.
They are followed by Sancti Spíritus (495), Las Tunas (421), Camagüey (309), Villa Clara (255) and Havana (251).
Of the 20,884 active patients admitted, 20,535 have a stable clinical course. A total of 349 patients are cared for in intensive care, of them 113 critical and 236 serious.
In the previous day, 4,965 medical discharges were made, for an accumulated 875,464 recovered patients.
