Mining companies representing more than half of global lithium production have created a global association, based in London, to speak on behalf of a rapidly growing sector that is key to meeting the goals of the energy transition.

Mining companies that represent more than half of global lithium production have created a global association, based in London, to speak on behalf of a rapidly growing industry which is key to meeting the objectives of the energy transition .

It is expected that the increased sales of electric vehicles powered by rechargeable lithium-ion batteries drive an increase in demand for the metal in the coming years.

Of the many applications of lithium batteries, electric vehicles and solutions energy storage are by far the most important and fastest growing sectors, “said the International Lithium Association (ILiA) in a statement.

L The five founding members of ILiA are SQM , Ganfeng Lithium , AMG Brasil , Orocobre and Pilbara Minerals .
