Het klinkt bijna onwerkelijk en toch is het echt zo. Je kunt GTA V spelen op een Game Boy van Nintendo. Dat werkt zo.
Is GTA V het nieuwe Doom? De grap van het internet is al jaren dat je Doom op allerlei apparaten kunt spelen. Van een koelkast tot een printer. Dat komt omdat Doom bijzonder weinig rekenkracht vereist, terwijl moderne hardware natuurlijk steeds krachtiger wordt en dus ook meer kan. In dit geval heeft iemand GTA V werkend gekregen op een Game Boy.
De Game Boy heeft absoluut niet de rekenkracht om deze GTA uit 2013 te kunnen draaien. Het gaat hier dan ook niet om een installatie op het apparaat, maar via streaming. Knappe kop Sebastian Staacks heeft het voor elkaar gekregen.
In een uitgebreide YouTube-video laat Sebastian zien hoe hij GTA V werkend heeft gekregen op een Game Boy door middel van streaming. De basis ligt bij een custom cartridge met hoge kwaliteit WiFi om het succesvol streamen van de game op het apparaat überhaupt mogelijk te maken. Het resultaat is te zien in de video hieronder.
