Michelle Gisin is the best-ranked Swiss woman in the first run of the World Cup giant slalom in Kranjska Gora. The Obwalden woman is in 6th place.
Gisin, who was third and second in the two giant slaloms in the same place last year, lost 87 hundredths of a second to the fastest time of the Swede Sara Hector. Wendy Holdener is eleventh, 1.3 seconds back. Lara Gut-Behrami, who is contesting her first race in four weeks after surviving Corona illness, follows in the intermediate ranking in 17th place.
Hector, who won the second giant slalom in Courchevel, leads the ranking by eight hundredths ahead of the French Tessa Worley. The Italian Marta Bassino is third 23 hundredths behind. This trio was able to set itself apart from the rest of the competition.
Mikaela Shiffrin and Petra Vlhova are clearly distant. The American, leader in the overall and discipline World Cup, and the Slovak woman were one and a half seconds slower than Hector.
