Single mother April Stringfield and her 13-year-old son received a 3D-printed house from the international aid organization Habitat for Humanity. This is one of the first such houses in the United States.

Print walls external and internal building with an area of 111 sq m. took 12 hours. As reported by Habitat for Humanity, this cut standard construction time by at least four weeks.

The new house has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. The house has also been equipped with a 3D printer, thanks to which its new residents will be able to print the necessary parts themselves, and with solar panels.

Concrete was used to build the house, which reduced the cost of the project. Wood prices, which are usually used to build houses in the US, have increased by 50% in the country. since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic. Concrete walls are also more resistant to damage from tornadoes and hurricanes.

Stringfield is a single mother who combines work in three different places. She could not afford to buy her own apartment and therefore turned to Habitat for Humanity for help. The organization’s building a home is a joint effort by volunteers and future homeowners who usually build and renovate affordable homes together.

Stringfield has worked 300 hours for the organization before qualifying to receive its own home.

Another house is already under construction to be printed on the organization’s 3D printer Habitat for Humanity, Arizona. (PAP)
