After a long wait, the long-awaited reunion with traditions arrives. The origins. The soul of a welcoming and hospitable people. This year, it has a reduced program to mitigate the spread of the pandemic, following all the recommendations of the General Directorate of Health.
October 7th and 8th
The kick departure is scheduled for 5:00 pm on Thursday, October 7th. An hour later, the opening of the ‘6th Mushroom Party’ takes place and the evening is marked by the musical performances of Rogério Braga and Sérgio Mirra Trio.
In the following days, the Vila Verde Regional Products Exhibition Fair opens at 10:00 am, with a huge variety of high quality agricultural products. On Friday, the highlights are the ATAHCA conference, the honey and marmalade contests and the musical entertainment with concerts by Tukanos and Verde Canto.
October 9th
Traditional cattle raising marks Saturday morning, with the regional and council competition, followed by the parade of animals. During the morning, there will still be time for the National Poultry Breeds Contest. Simultaneously, a true display of talent and creativity will take place in the venue in the Craft Competition.
The beginning of the afternoon period takes us on a journey through the time. Subsistence agriculture, with animals, fruits and vegetables fresh from the countryside. The costumes of the past, the auctions and the traditional materials add to the atmosphere of the XVII Traditional Fair ‘Reviver the Past’.
The early afternoon stays complete with the Bread Contest and the Official Opening of the Ethnographic and Interpretive Center of Vila Verde. Afterwards, music takes over the venue with the Vila Verde Musical Band Concert (5:00 pm), the Vila Verde Music Academy Concert (18:00) and the contagious joy of Cantares ao Desafio (2:00 pm), with NATY, Anjinho, Malheiro, Aguiar, Ne, Silva, Mickael Akordeon, Liliana Oliveira and Simão.
10 October
The last day of this year’s edition starts early amidst the immense beauty of natural landscapes with the Fojo do Lobo Trail. This is followed by the Concentration and Classic Car Parade (10:00) and the Mass of Harvest (11:00). During the afternoon, the queen of Minho is the one who orders the most at the Concertina Players Meeting. The Harvest Festival – XXIX Vila Verde Regional Products Exhibition Fair closes at 20:00.
