Hernando Cevallos: From October 15, application of the third dose to health personnel begins

On the Peruvian Medicine Day, the Minister of Health, Hernando Cevallos , announced the application of the third dose of the vaccine against COVID-19 to first-line health personnel.

In his speech before his colleagues at the College Peruvian doctor, Minister Hernando Cevallos indicated that this vaccination will be carried out from the fortnight of October.

“I want to tell you colleagues that on the 15th of this month the vaccination with the third dose to the first line of workers begins. We are not going to allow one more doctor to die for the lack of a vaccine that raises his immunity and gives him better conditions to work, “he said in his speech.

He also said that it is convenient to vaccinate people over 65 years of age, with comorbidities and people with a level of immunosuppression.

Third dose no will be Sinopharm for the moment

Last Friday in an interview with RPP , pointed out that the third dose will be with the vaccines from Pfizer and AstraZeneca laboratories, because there is international evidence of its efficiency in this application in other countries.

Hernando Cevallos specified that, in the case of Sinopharm, despite the fact that it has given “good results” in Peru and the mortality rates of health personnel and the population that received this vaccine have decreased, there is still no evidence on its efficiency in the inoculation of a third dose.

“We do not have enough evidence that a third application of the Sinopharm vaccine is the most convenient to raise the defense of citizens,” he said.
