In the United States, 1.34 million new cases of coronavirus infections occurred on Monday. This is a new world record. The previous record was also set by the USA, exactly a week ago. The latest maximum is 300,000 cases higher than the previous value. TASR obtained this information from data released by NBC Television

At the same time, the television points out that daily increments of infected people tend to be particularly high in the US, especially on Mondays, as several countries do not publish current data on weekends. However, this high figure indicates the spread of the highly contagious omicron variant, NBC adds.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been a record 61.5 million coronavirus infections in the United States.

At the same time, the number of hospitalizations with covid is growing in the USA, especially in the Midwest and the Mid-Atlantic region. The number of patients in hospitals has increased over the past two weeks, particularly in Louisiana (by 341 percent) and Florida (by 277 percent). In terms of population, they have the most hospitalized patients in the country’s capital, followed by New Jersey, New York and Ohio.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) estimates that omicron infections currently account for 95 percent of all new coronavirus infections in the United States.
