INTERVIEW Ljiljana Blagojević: I do not regret a single rejected role

“I have a thesis that a career is made not only on played, but also on rejected roles. If I were to list all the series and films that I I refused, some I don’t even remember, there would be a larger number of rejected than selected “, said Ljiljana Blagojević in an interview for Nova.rs.

The series “Beak” with the recordings produced by “United Media” this Monday had its television premiere on the Nova S channel. actress Ivana Vukovic, a young detective who plays the ambitious Sonja Kljun in the series, was given the task to go from Belgrade to Subotica and investigate the alleged suicide, not expecting her arrival to trigger an avalanche of events, which will reveal deeply buried secrets related to the mysterious organization. for Sonja’s past. The famous actress Ljiljana Blagojević also appears in the series, who plays the character of Marta.

What was the experience of working on “Kljun”?

“The series was filmed in Vojvodina, specifically in Palić, and I think it is wonderful that the audience will get to know that part of our country.” I remember when I watched the first episode in Sarajevo with my friend, in which there is also Subotica in which I did not film, and it is represented in the series, that my friend said that she had to go to see Palić and Subotica. Palic is the pearl of this area. ”

What makes your character specific in the series?

“I was lucky to shoot there in a house. I play the character of Marta, she is a woman who runs a boarding house in Palić, a beautiful old house in the architecture of that Palić lake. Marta is an unusual woman, such a role is rare for women my age. Although not the main one, she is very important for the plot of the series, she knows one of the basic problems that runs through the whole series and she is a person who can be someone who understands the dreams that appear in the series and knows how they are related to reality. She is a woman who is a hedonist, loves life and enjoys it, even though life has not caressed her… She is not difficult, she is easy, direct, concrete, and like all intelligent women, she is a bit cynical. ”

What is her relationship with the main protagonist of the series?

“Marta has a wonderful relationship with the main character, honest and human.”

How different was the filming of “Kljun” compared to the filming of some previous series that you did during the former Yugoslavia?

“Every time has its own stamp, every time has a reflection like a forest in a lake, every time has a reflection in what makes a work of art. Personally, I think that now in that great production of the series, you have both what belongs to art and what belongs to something else. Like a newspaper, read and forget. I think that the former production in Yugoslavia was much richer in production, it was much closer to film both in the way it was shot and in the production treatment. This series is a bit different from what I’ve done so far, but I’m really trying to choose something that will be different in my appearance. First of all, the script is important to me, and then who directs the film or series. When the executive producer called me to appear in the series after so many years, and after I read the text by Matija Dragojević and found out that it would be directed by Uroš and Jelena who had previously done the wonderful series “Grupa”, I liked the role and it was not for I had dilemmas in making a decision. Everything is different than the series I did before, and the beauty is in the diversity. ”

When you talk about your roles, there are certainly some that you have turned down. Do you regret it?

“I have a thesis that a career is made not only on played, but also on rejected roles. If I were to list all the series and movies that I rejected, some I don’t even remember, there would be a larger number of rejected than selected ones. I am an advocate that you can play everything in the theater because it is the art of the present, and as far as film and series are concerned, you have to take care of that because it remains after you as a trace and as a document of how you worked and what you were like in this business. For a while, it confirmed that I was right and that I had a good intuition. I mostly refused what would not lead me forward, not to mention what would harm me. ”

Have you repented for a rejected role?

“I did not repent for anything because time confirmed that I was right.”

Some time ago you went to live in the countryside. Do you miss the city?

“I have a habit of joking that I live in the countryside, that my cottage is in the city. My apartment that we have is there to serve so that when I work and record, I have a place to be, and my real life takes place in the countryside and I really like it, especially in this global time of a great prisoner who happened to be humane. It is necessary to have your own yard and a piece of the Sun and to have clean air. ”
