Jon Jones breaks silence following domestic violence arrest: ‘I will leave alcohol in my past forever’

Jon Jones is once again promising to do better following his latest arrest.

On Tuesday, the former UFC light heavyweight champion broke his silence with a post on Instagram but didn’t directly address the charges against him, which include battery domestic violence and injuring or tampering with a vehicle after he was taken into custody in Las Vegas.

“I have way too much trauma to consume alcohol,” Jones wrote. “My brain simply can’t handle it anymore. I will leave alcohol in my past forever.

“Now is the time to work harder than ever.

“Turn this nightmare into the best thing to ever happen in my life.

“What the devil means for bad, God means for good.

“Get right back on my horse.”

Randy Newman’s popular 1995 song “You’ve Got A Friend In Me” played over the post.

Details surrounding Jones’ arrest were made public earlier in the day when the police report was released.

Jones was arrested after his fiancée Jessie Moses was seen with blood on her face and clothes following a physical altercation that allegedly took place after the couple attended the UFC Hall of Fame ceremony this past Thursday night.

Moses told police that Jones “touched the back of my head and pulled my hair a little bit but he did not hit me or anything.” Police were called to the hotel room occupied by Jones and his family after his fiancée went to the security desk asking for an extra key, at which time the guard realized she had blood on her lip and clothing.

After she began tearing up, Moses told the security team that she was scared to go back to the room and one of Jones’ children asked them, “Can you please call the cops?”

Jones, who had already left the property, was subsequently picked up by police, at which point he became agitated and allegedly slammed his head into the police car, which accounts for the felony charge for injuring or tampering with a vehicle.

Jones was later released on bond with his next court appearance due on Oct. 26.

UFC officials have not made any public statements regarding Jones’ status with the promotion following his arrest, which is just the latest in a long line of legal troubles that have haunted the former light heavyweight champion in recent years.
