Kym Marsh explains why she’s been absent from BBC One’s Morning Live

Kym Marsh has explained why she’s been absent from BBC One’s Morning Live, saying that she’s going to ‘take each day as it comes’ as she shares an update on her personal life with viewers.

Earlier this summer, it was revealed that Kym, 45, had been forced to pull out of Morning Live after testing positive for Covid-19, with It Takes Two star Janette Manrara taking her place.

Just a month earlier, Kym’s father was diagnosed with incurable prostate cancer after delaying a check-up due to the pandemic.

On Friday’s edition of the BBC programme, Kym gave an update on her father’s cancer treatment, while also speaking about how she has been suffering from anxiety in recent months.

The former Coronation Street star also addressed her recent engagement and plans for her upcoming wedding to army major Scott Ratcliff.

The couple announced their engagement in June this year, with Scott proposing to Kym on her birthday.

Speaking in a film aired on Friday’s Morning Live, Kym explained that she isn’t putting ‘pressure’ on herself to return in a fuller capacity to the show.

‘For now I’m just gonna take each day as it comes and not put any pressure on myself,’ she said.

‘So I’ll, I’ll check in on the Morning Live family with my own family for now… but don’t be getting too comfortable without me Gethin, please. I’ll see you on the dance floor at the wedding.’

Kym first joined Morning Live as a co-presenter in 2020.

When the singer announced her engagement to Scott, she told OK! that she was ‘over the moon’.

‘I’m absolutely over the moon – I can’t believe it. It’s been the best birthday surprise ever. I can’t stop smiling!’ she said.

The couple has been dating since July 2018, but to face being separated for long periods of time due to Scott’s military service.

At one point, the couple went seven months without seeing each other, Kym said.

The Glasgow-born military man first met Kym in 2018 and the pair started dating following her split from Matt Baker.

Morning Live airs weekdays from 9.15am on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.

I want to play basketball! He cleverly used a slam dunk to say that the netizens in the political arena are in the right seat: the Kuomintang is “Xiangbei”
