She recently turned 50 and Lisa Snowdon has never looked so radiant and youthful as she does now. The model is often gracing our TV screens presenting alongside Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield on This Morning sharing her fashion tips and advice.
It was no surprise to see the TV presenter team up again with Kaleidoscope to be the face of their new season collection, which will have your wardrobes kitted out from early spring right to swimwear later on in the year.
The must have items are available in sizes 10 – 24 and prices starting from just £35. OK! spoke with the brunette beauty, who gave us her secrets to looking amazing at 50 and how she stays fit and healthy.
What’s your secret to looking amazing at 50?
I think it’s all about attitude – 50 is the new 30! Us ladies all take much better care of ourselves these days. We eat well, drink lots of water, get our exercise as well as good nutrition. I also take Correxiko collagen in a tablet and powder form every day, which is so good for the skin, hair and nails. I do find that life is about balance, being mostly disciplined but also having that glass of wine, or that delicious piece of chocolate or even a cheeky plate of fish and chips, I like the saying a little bit of what you fancy does you good. And finally, laughter, someone to laugh with is good for the soul.
Is there such a thing as having to dress for your age?
I don’t believe there’s such a thing as dressing for your age – in fact I hate it when someone says, ‘Oh that’s not age appropriate.’ Rules are made to be broken, why would you want to blend in? Have fun with fashion, it’s about individuality, expressing yourself – go for those gorgeous prints, wear the strong colours, just wear what you want to wear!
What are your top 5 pieces from the Kaleidoscope spring/summer collection?
Kaleidoscope’s biker jackets are so versatile and absolutely gorgeous. The navy blue is especially cool, it’s a little softer than black and just so great with a Breton or a white t-shirt. The tailoring is amazing, and again I love these colours – a pop of jade green or a soft blush pink. There’s also a super cool jumpsuit, some beautiful occasion wear – there’s literally so much I can’t choose just 5!
Do you have a disciplined workout routine?
I like to incorporate as much movement into my week as possible. Walking, Pilates classes, stretching, yoga and recently a bit of weightlifting which is brilliant for building muscle and burning fat. It’s great as we get older as it helps with bone density too.
What are your go to beauty products?
I have always been religious at cleansing and moisturising twice a day. Emma Hardie cleansing balm is just divine, BioEffect EGF Serum is nourishing and helps to thicken the skin’s barrier as well as helping to produce more collagen. I love oils to massage as well as LED light, it gives the skin a gorgeous glow, helps with fine lines, and softens wrinkles.
Has your diet changed as you’ve gotten older?
I sometimes like to do intermittent fasting, so basically, less calories per day – so I might skip breakfast and have lunch then a light early dinner. Sometimes I have months when I don’t drink alcohol and eliminate sugar from my diet – it’s easy when you put your mind to it. Each meal will always contain an element of protein and lots of vegetables. If I’m being sensible then I’ll only eat refined carbs with my lunch. Most of the time it’s about balance and food is one of my passions and main pleasures in life.
What do you like to eat every day?
Eggs, asparagus, green beans, I love salmon, quinoa with herbs and vegetables and I’ve even started eating a little bit of meat these days too. I think it’s important to listen to your body as it will tell you when to avoid something through being uncomfortable but it will also tell you when you need to eat a certain type of food. Like for us women it’s spinach for iron or red meat depending on your cycle. I think as long as we incorporate lots of fresh produce, nuts, seeds, herbs, home cooked food and limit processed foods, then it’s all good.
Spring is just around the corner, what are you looking forward to the most?
Spring is the most beautiful season, everything is in bud ready to bloom and you get a little taste of sunshine. It just feels like such a positive and happy time, a hopeful, happy season.
If you could go back and give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be?
That everything is going to be ok, great even. That you’ll have a lovely life but please learn from your mistakes and try not to keep repeating them.
