Liverpool eye in-form Super Eagles star as replacement for Mo Salah – report

Liverpool are reportedly eyeing Nigerian star Ademola Lookman as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, whose future at Anfield remains uncertain, Soccernet.ng understands.

Salah, who has been in exceptional form this season with 13 goals and 11 assists in 20 appearances, is nearing the final months of his contract and has admitted his future at Liverpool is unclear.

“I’m more out than in,” the Egyptian winger recently stated, revealing no contract extension has been offered.

Should Salah depart, Italian outlet Gazzetta reports that Liverpool have identified Lookman as a leading candidate to fill his boots.

The Nigerian forward, currently shining at Atalanta, has been in sensational form, registering seven goals and four assists in 11 Serie A matches this season.

His performances have also extended to the Champions League, where he has notched two goals and one assist in four appearances.

Lookman’s meteoric rise saw him finish 14th in this year’s Ballon d’Or rankings. Despite interest from Paris Saint-Germain earlier in the year, Atalanta managed to fend off advances with the player tied to a contract until 2027.

The Serie A side reportedly rejected a €60 million bid from PSG last summer.

Meanwhile, Salah has also been linked with PSG, with reports suggesting his representatives have held discussions over a potential move.

PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, however, has downplayed the likelihood of the deal.

Salah, who has netted in six consecutive Premier League matches, remains a pivotal figure for Liverpool, but speculation about his future continues after the club rejected a €150 million bid from Saudi Pro League side Al Ittihad last summer.

Liverpool may have to act swiftly to secure Lookman should Salah’s Anfield exit materialise.
