Manchester United face German side Borussia Dortmund in their next pre-season friendly on Monday.
Last time out the Red Devils were beaten 2-0 by Spanish giants Real Madrid, and manager Erik ten Hag will be hoping his side can improve when they face the Bundesliga side on Monday.
The Dutchman has made clear his desire to sign a striker this summer, and it now appears that United may be making progress in their pursuit of a Serie A star.
As per Football Insider, the Manchester outfit are edging closer to a deal for Rasmus Hojlund after Atalanta agreed a deal to sign another striker.
The report claims that talks between the two clubs are progressing and United are now ready to finalise a deal.
Serie A side Atalanta have agreed to sign striker El Bilal Toure from Spanish side Almeria, the report claims, in a deal worth £26.5 million.
United have been heavily linked with Hojlund for much of the summer so far, but a deal has not yet been agreed.
The 20-year-old joined Atalanta from Austrian side Sturm Graz last summer and enjoyed an impressive first season in Italy.
The youngster scored ten goals in 34 matches across all competitions, as well as providing four assists.
His performances didn’t go unnoticed, though, and French champions Paris Saint-Germain were also said to be interested in signing the Danish star.
Hojlund made his senior debut for Denmark last September and has now scored six goals in as many matches for his country.
Atalanta are demanding a fee of £86 million for the young striker, the report claims, although United are adamant that they won’t pay more than £60 million.
If a deal can’t be agreed, the report claims that United could instead look to sign either Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani, or Ajax star Mohammed Kudus.
