Maxvalu West Japan will open “Maxvalu Kawato Store” in Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture and “The Big Higashiizumo Store” in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture at the same time on October 9.
The company aims to become a regional supermarket in the Chushikoku / Hyogo area of Hiroshima, Yamaguchi, Okayama, and Tottori. It has 385 stores in 9 prefectures, 4 in China, 4 in Shikoku, and 4 in Hyogo. This time, in Shimane Prefecture, which was the only store in the Shikoku region of China, there are two stores, “Maxvalu”, a community-based fresh food-enhanced supermarket, and “The Big,” which sells food, daily miscellaneous goods, and clothing as a discount format. “Maxvalu Kawa Ato Store” is located in Inaoka-cho on the west side of the Hii River that flows through Izumo City, and has a lineup of local products that are particular about “season, freshness, and deliciousness.” We are strengthening our lineup of local products such as seasonings, tofu, and pickles, aiming to become a store that is rooted in Izumo, close to us, and needed. We offer products that are suitable for the region, such as the introduction of prepared foods using local ingredients, and delicious products from each region that take advantage of the company’s strengths, which are widely deployed in Chugoku, Shikoku, and Hyogo prefectures.
At the vegetable and fruit section, we have a lineup of freshly picked local products with the cooperation of local producers, farms, and producer groups. The fish counter sells fresh fish with outstanding freshness directly from the Taisha and Daejeon fishing ports at the morning market every morning. Fresh fish from the fish counter is cooked in the store for sushi, sashimi, and prepared foods, and freshly made products are offered.
At the side dish section, we are gradually developing new products that are particular about the local area, such as Menchi-katsu with beef from Shimane prefecture, using local ingredients. You can also enjoy Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki baked on an iron plate.
Start “mobile sales” for people who have difficulty visiting the store. Perishables and daily necessities will be sold on 5 routes in a week, centering on the former Hikawa-cho, in the mountains on the border of Hiroshima prefecture, and on the border between Izumo and Unnan. We will carry out a business that makes use of the know-how of mobile sales that we have been implementing in 5 prefectures in the Chugoku and Shikoku areas.
“The Big Higashi-Izumo Store” opens as a discount format along National Highway No. 9 about 1.7 km from the Higashi-Izumo Interchange in Matsue City. Realizing The Big’s motto, “The more you buy, the cheaper you will find”, and selling cheap and surprising products that other stores do not have.
In order to meet the demand for bulk purchases on weekends, the non-foods product special sales floor in the center of the store is the first to develop trendy products and outlet products. We will prepare new products every weekend and aim to be a store that makes you want to go shopping not only every day but also from afar on weekends.
A surprisingly cheap “kitchen market” will be set up in the daily necessities section, such as kitchen consumables such as dish detergent and kitchen paper, storage containers, and kitchen utensils such as cooking goods.
Establish a “frozen market” with a strengthened frozen food section to meet the needs for simpler food and shorter cooking times. It sells frozen marine and livestock foods that can also be used as preserved foods, and frozen snack foods such as pasta that can be easily eaten.
The fresh food section offers products procured with particular attention to season, freshness, and locality at surprising prices. At the vegetable section, seasonal products and products for sale are sold in a dynamic section. The fish counter will offer fresh fish purchased at the Matsue / Sakaiminato market, etc. with a focus on freshness at a bargain price, aiming for the lowest price in the region.
In addition, both stores will introduce a self-scan system “My-Pi Scan”. A dedicated terminal that can be rented out at stores, where you can register on the spot while purchasing products and shop at your own pace.
The payment settlement machine is a “non-contact sensor” Since it uses a “panel”, it is possible to shop without touching anything other than the dedicated terminal.
