Meta , the new name of the Facebook matrix, you will need to undergo a child safety scrutiny in your future metaverse by the UK.
The country’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) is planning to “talk” with Target so that they can explain how the children’s code established for the virtual reality headsets that the brand sells works.
The control body wants to determine if Oculus headsets and virtual reality services from Meta do enough to protect children’s privacy and data.
“We are committed to children”
The UK was concerned that the Meta platform would make it too easy for children to log in and risk abuse, harassment and explicit content.
Meta may require a Facebook account (and therefore that a user has at minus 13 years), but that does not mean that you are implementing the required age controls. Kids can jump into potentially dangerous VR chat rooms simply by “checking a box.”
A spokesperson for Meta told The Guardian that the internet giant was “committed” to complying with the children’s code and was “confident” that its virtual reality hardware met the requirements.
The representative emphasized that the terms of service do not allow children under the age of 13 to use the products, but did not address concerns that it was too easy for children Ignore that policy.
