Croatia’s Mirela Kardasevic this past weekend set a new women’s freediving world record at the AIDA Croatia National Championship.
Kardasevic swam 244m/800ft in the Dynamic with Bifins discipline during the competition.
In an Instagram post, she wrote:
“I want to thank my coaches, Ivan Drvis, my club DPS Zagreb and my family for being my biggest motivation even on days like today. I also want to thank my sponsors for supporting me because where would I be without them.”
Setting world records is nothing new for Kardasevic, who in November 2020 had set a women’s CMAS pool record with a 200m/656ft swim in the Dynamic No Fins discipline.
The year before that, she swam 180m/587ft in the DNF discipline, and 226m/741ft in the Dynamic with Bi-Fins discipline.
